Angel Almond Layer

  • 1Angel Food Cake
  • 1 cupStrawberry Jam
  • 8Egg Whites
  • 1/4 tspnCream Of Tartar
  • 1/2 cupSugargranulated
  • 1/4 cupAlmondsthinly sliced

Instructions

Prepare angel food cake as directed. Pour into loaf (round) angel food pan. Bake as directed. Invert pan: cool. Remove cake from pan. Cut cake in half horizontally; spread jam between layers. Whip egg whites until foamy. Gradually beat in cream of tartar and sugar until egg whites stand in peaks. Spread on sides and top of cake. Sprinkle almonds over meringue. Bake in 450 degree oven 3 minutes or until meringue starts to turn brown. Yield 12 servings.
